IMPEX Completes Successful Ocean Transportation RFP for Small and Medium Size NVOCC’s

IMPEX Awards Contracts to 7 Ocean Container Lines on Behalf of Member NVOCC’s in its Ocean Transportation Purchasing Cooperative

IMPEX Logistics, manager of an Ocean Transportation Purchasing Cooperative for small and medium size NVOCC’s, has completed a successful RFP on behalf of its initial NVOCC members this week. Representing over 8,400 TEUs across participating NVOCC’s, including Cargo Transport Systems, GTM (formerly Global Transportation Management), International Cargo Transport and Worldwide Express, the IMPEX RFP yielded competitive pricing and provided new ocean carrier options for several participating NVOCC’s. The net result was the IMPEX RFP allowed its members to provide improved rates to their existing customers, as well as secure additional business from new customers.

“We are extremely pleased that the results of the Ocean Transportation RFP allowed us to fulfill our principal mission of helping our members more effectively compete with larger NVOCC’s,” said Randy Smith, President of IMPEX Logistics. “We will continue to aggressively market our new Ocean Transportation Purchasing Cooperative to other NVO’s looking for a competitive edge and work with our ocean carrier partners to bring them competitive pricing and superior service.”

IMPEX will issue a second RFP in the coming weeks representing an additional 12,000 TEU’s on behalf of both existing and new NVOCC members. Combined with the 8,400 TEU’s from the initial RFP, the IMPEX Ocean Transportation Purchasing Cooperative has instantly captured the interest and attention of leading ocean container lines. To date, IMPEX has entered into contracts with CMA-CGM, Evergreen, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin, MOL, OOCL and United Arab Shipping Company.

Additionally, IMPEX recently hired Eric Taylor as Director of Sales to expand its NVOCC membership. With over 25 years of ocean sales experience with three ocean carriers and an NVO servicing many large, national accounts, Eric knows all sides of the ocean transportation industry.
